As a young immigrant, Sladjana moved to Canada with her family in 1996. Her family lived in refugee camps in Germany for a time before immigrating to Canada. She has lived through war, loss, and many other traumas during most of her childhood and youth years. Her life experiences have left her battling with crippling PTSD for most of her life.
Sladjana never gave up seeking help and healing. She met many incredible people throughout her life who have stood by her, and supported her during her toughest times. Her art has played a significant role in her healing journey and she is now ready to share it with the world.
THE STORY OF THE RED CARDINAL
One beautiful sunny day in June of 2020, Sladjana
was working at her Massage Therapy Clinic in Fergus, ON,
and suddenly out of nowhere a red cardinal flew right up to her open window and quietly sat there for a moment. This bird
captivated her mind and her thoughts so much! The next day,
she was still thinking about the red cardinal. She was inspired
to go to the store, buy a canvas, some brushes and red paint.
Her creation was a surprise to her, as she had not painted in
over 15 years!
Over the next two years she was able to find the stillness in
the midst of all the chaos happening around world. Connecting
to her creativity has been very healing and therapeutic. It has
helped her to stay anchored and present during what seemed to be the most confusing and stressful time for so many of us.
